Close Air Support (CAS)

Description

Air operations providing direct fire support to ground forces in close proximity to friendly troops.

Phases

  1. **Request Phase:** Ground unit requests CAS through TACP
  2. **Mission Planning Phase:** Aircraft tasked, briefed on target
  3. **Check-in Phase:** Aircraft arrives, contacts JTAC
  4. **Target Acquisition Phase:** JTAC talks aircraft onto target
  5. **Engagement Phase:** Weapons delivery
  6. **Assessment Phase:** BDA and re-attack if required

Post-strike assessment of target destruction and effects.
